Use the Edit Journal Entry window to make changes to existing manual journal entries.
Edits to Journal Entries are restricted (you may not be able to edit certain fields) when:
the accounting period has been closed
the journal entry is included in a completed Bank Reconciliation
The Edit Journal Entries
window lists only those manual journal entries that are editable.
For a list of all your journal entries (like the ones generated by
adding an invoice or receiving inventory), run the GL
Transaction Journal report.
Navigate
to General Ledger > Journal
Entries.
The Journal Entries window opens and
all entries made in the last month are displayed.
Click
New Search.
The Journal Entry Search window opens.
Journal Number: type in the complete journal reference number (eg. 3235). The J (for journal entry) will be filled in automatically.
Description: type in a portion of the description (no need to enter the entire text string; just a portion is sufficient).
Created By: type in a portion of the user name (no need to enter the entire name; just a portion is sufficient).
Total DR: type in the dollar value of the debit total (this value is always positive, you can skip entering the cents if they are .00).
Posting Date: select a date range or Any Date.
Entry Date: select a different date range or Any Date.
Click Search to display the results.
To edit a manual journal entry
Navigate
to General Ledger > Journal
Entries.
The Journal Entries window opens and
all entries made in the last month are displayed.
From
the Journal Entries list, select the entry to edit and then click
Edit.
Click New Search and change the criteria
if the Journal Entry you want to edit isn't listed.
Edit the data in the journal entry transactions.
Tip
Accounts cannot be edited; you must remove and add a new entry if an incorrect account was entered. To remove an entry in the table, select the entry and click Remove Transaction Detail.
Click Save.
