Looking for Customers

agrē provides the option of either searching for a list of customers or finding one particular customer.

Note

When you search for or find customers, any text boxes left blank are ignored.

The Search toolbar button retrieves multiple customers. When you search for customers, agrē retrieves a list of customers from which you can select one, if needed.

Click the Search toolbar button

The New Search toolbar button provides a quick way to start a new search. The search criteria defaults to the values you last entered.

To search for a customer

Open the Customer Search window.
The Customer Search window can be opened from many different menus and windows in agrē. Depending on where you opened the Customer Search window from, some criteria may be unavailable to edit (e.g., the active status).

Note

Entering Customer Search criteria to refine your search is optional. However, the more specific your criteria, the more specific the search results. You can specify one or many pieces of information for which to search. If you click Search without entering any criteria, all active customers are listed. Depending on your customers and configuration settings the search could result in a list of hundreds or thousands of customers. If too many customers are found, agrē asks you to narrow your search. Try selecting customers from just one location.

In the Quick Search box, enter any portion of the customer's first name, last name, alias, customer code, membership number, contact name, or primary phone number.
Quick Search is available on select customer searches.

In the Name (any portion) box, enter any portion of the customer’s name.

In the Customer Code (any portion) box, enter any portion of the customer’s code.

In the Alias (any portion) box, enter any portion of the customer’s alias.

In the Phone Number (any portion) box, enter any portion of the customer’s or contacts' phone or mobile numbers.

The following characters are ignored:
- dash,  + plus,  ( ) brackets, . period, and spaces

In the Contact Name (any portion) box, enter any portion of the name of the customer’s contact.

In the Address (any portion) box, enter any portion of the customer’s address, address description, city, province, or postal code.
(searches both billing and shipping addresses)

In the Member Number box, enter any portion of the customer’s membership number.

In the Customer Characteristic box, optionally change the customer characteristic or search for all characteristics.

In the Location box, optionally change the location or search for all locations.

In the Discount Group box, optionally change the discount group or search for all discount groups.

In the Active? box, optionally change whether to search for active customers.
Yes” is selected by default.
“Either” searches for active and inactive customers.

Click Search.
The search results are shown.

Using the Find Customer Window

After using the Find button, the Use Selection toolbar button uses the selected customer in the Customer List to display data on another window. The Use Selection button also closes the Find Customer window.

Select a customer from the Customer List and then click Use Selection

To find a customer

Open the Find Customer window.

In the Contact Name (any portion) box, enter any portion of the name of the customer’s contact.

In the City box, enter the customer’s city.

In the Member Number box, enter the customer’s membership number
(on invoices must be an exact match and results are controlled by the Check Digit configuration option).

In the Customer Characteristic box, optionally change the customer characteristic or search for all characteristics.

In the Location box, optionally change the location or search for all locations.

In the Discount Group box, optionally change the discount group or search for all discount groups.

In the Active? box, optionally change whether to search for active customers.
“Yes” is selected by default. “Either” searches for active and inactive customers.

Click Find.
The search results are shown in the Customer List on the Find Customer window.

In the Customer List, select the customer and then click Use Selection.
The selected customer is displayed.
