Soil & Tissue Testing Lab Management

Before you can start submitting and importing lab test results, agrē will need to know which testing labs you deal with.

What you'll find:

Test Submissions and Results Retrieval

Manage Soil & Tissue Testing Labs

Manage Web Service Download Credentials (Usernames and Passwords, Keys)

Note

If you send soil samples to ALS for testing, please contact them and ask them to use the Tronia export layout when they return the results. They have designed a custom export layout just for agrē.

Test Submissions and Results Retrieval

agrē shares data with several testing laboratories but as each lab makes its own decisions regarding what tasks it will allow agrē to do, the way you submit and retrieve test results will depend on which lab you use.

Manage Soil Test Labs

Before test results can be submitted or retrieved, indicate which labs you deal with.

To configure Soil Laboratories:

Navigate to Agronomy > Manage > Soil Labs.
The Manage Soil Laboratories window opens.

Check Use Lab for each testing lab that you deal with.

If you use A & L for test submissions, you also need to enter a Prefix (provided by A&L) and a 4 digit Soil Submit Number that agrē will use to generate a unique file reference number for each submission.

The Soil Submit Prefix (maximum of 5 characters) will be provided by A&L and Tronia will add it for you.

The Soil Submit Number (maximum of 10 characters allowed, but A&L wants only 4) will be incremented by one with each submission.
If the number is not 4 digits agrē will add leading 0's, or strip out extra leading digits, to make it 4 digits after the first submission.

Save your changes.
The Manage Soil Laboratories window closes.

Manage Web Service Download Credentials (Usernames, Passwords, IDs, Keys)

Note

A & L Canada and Midwest offer direct web service for submissions and results retrieval.

AgVise and Down to Earth offer direct web service for results retrieval only (no automated submissions).

If you submit to or retrieve results directly from a test lab, store your login credentials (optional for some labs, mandatory for others) so that you can be authenticated by the lab’s server via the internet with just one click.

To configure web service IDs and passwords:

Navigate to File > Config Options > User.
The Config Options for Users window opens.

On the Agronomy tab:

For A&L Canada or Midwest: enter your Username and Password as provided by the lab.

Tip

If you deal regularly with both A&L and Midwest you may want to skip this step (leave the Username and Password fields blank) and agrē will prompt you for your credentials on the fly when you initiate a connection. Or enter the credentials for the lab you use most often and you'll be prompted for the other when you submit to them.

For AgVise: enter your AgVise Key.
Importing results from AgVise requires only a valid AgVise Key - no username or password is needed- but it must be entered here as AgVise won't prompt you for it on the fly.

For Down to Earth: enter your User ID, Access Key, and Developer Key.
The easiest way to enter is information is to login to your DtE account (at their website), copy your login credentials, and paste them in agrē.
These credentials must be entered here as DtE won't prompt you for them on the fly (and the data strings are long so you really wouldn't want to type them every time you submit).

Save your changes.
The Config Options for Users window closes.
