Managing Grades

A Grade is associated with a commodity to define its quality. A commodity can have many grades, but a grade can have only one commodity.

The combination of a Commodity + Grade is a unique product in agrē.

What you'll find:

Adding Grades

To add new grades:
* indicates a required field (other fields are optional)

Navigate to Grain > Manage > Grades.
The Manage Grades window opens.

Select a Commodity from the dropdown list and click Retrieve.
Any existing Grades will be listed.

Click Add.
The Add Grade window opens.

Type a Code*.
The Code must be unique.

Press TAB (or click Active) to activate the new grade.

Check Hedge Position to set the grade used for reporting Open Futures on the Grain Inventory Position report (GIPR).
Only one grade per commodity can be checked.

Type a Description*.
The Description must be unique.

Select the Product* associated with this unique Commodity+Grade combination.
If no product exists, you will need to create one.
Once a product has been associated, it cannot be used on a different grade/commodity combination, nor can it be changed, deactivated or deleted.

(optional) Set a Minimum Price and a Maximum Price to prevent any open storage receipts from being settled outside the price range.

Printed Notes  
Add a note that will be printed on Purchase Contracts for this commodity+grade (report layout must support Grade Notes).

Grain Storage Report
Add a note that will be printed on the Grain Storage Receipt report.

Click Save to save the Grade.
The Add Grade window closes.

Editing Grades

You can change the Code, Description, and Active status.

To edit a grade:

Navigate to Grain > Manage > Grades.
The Manage Grades window opens.

Select a commodity and click Edit.
The Edit Grade window opens.

Make your changes as needed.

Click Save.
The Edit Grade window closes.

Deactivating Grades

If there's a grade you no longer need but has been used so it can't be deleted, you can deactivate it. Once a grade has been deactivated it cannot be used on any new transactions but can still be viewed on existing transactions.

To deactivate a grade:

Navigate to Grain > Manage > Grades.
The Manage Grades window opens.

Select a commodity and click Edit.
The Edit Grade window opens.

Uncheck the Active checkbox.

Click Save.
The Edit Grade window closes.

Deleting Grades

Deleting a grade deletes it from the database. A grade can be deleted only if it has not been associated with any grain activity - but you can deactivate it if you no longer want to use it.

To delete a grade:

Navigate to Grain > Manage > Grades.
The Manage Grades window opens.

Select a commodity and click Retrieve.
The Manage Grades window opens.

Select a grade and click Delete.
The Delete Grade window opens.

Select Yes to delete the grade.
Select No to cancel the grade.
